SPL’s City Librarian Marcellus Turner was the keynote speaker today at the second InfoCamp I’ve attended in Seattle. You can listen to the inspiring speech via MP3. I think it’s clear he wowed the LIS and UX folks alike.

Bookyard: a Backyard Library in Ghent

June 5, 2012 Leave a comment

This amazing creation was posted on This is Colossal here.

I just thought of something: what if I created a decaying library in my backyard using found materials for bookcases? I would similarly put books on the shelves and leave them exposed overtime, resulting in moldy, decaying books. It could potentially become beautiful, however. If I owned the property, maybe I’d try to do this. Might be too controversial . . . unless I created the collection using old, damaged Romance novels . . . that would be the perfect metaphor, I think.

Oh, and in other news, I’ve completed my third quarter (first year) of library school.
